    Sarajevo is a multicultural city with a long history of religious and cultural diversity, sometimes called the "Jerusalem of Europe". It was the site of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914, the 1984 Winter Olympics, and the longest siege of a capital city in modern warfare during the Bosnian War.

    The Sarajevo Tunnel was built by the Bosnian Army during the Siege of Sarajevo to link the city with other Bosnian-held territory.
