Sir Thomas Boteler was founded in 1526. For nearly 500 years, we have provided high quality secondary education to the people of Warrington. A brief history. The founder of the school was a medieval Lord of the Manor, born at Bewsey in 1461, and knighted by Henry VII.
Thomas Boteler, the founder of Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School was born at Bewsey Old Hall in 1461. In 1463, his father Sir John FitzJohn le Boteler was murdered and Thomas's elder brother, William, inherited the estates.
