Theodore is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Banana, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census the locality of Theodore had a population of 438 people. It was established in the 1920s as part of Queensland Premier Ted Theodore's ambitious Dawson River Irrigation Scheme

Theodore lies on the eastern side of the Great Dividing Range, and boasts a tropical character with a palm-lined boulevard and pretty timber houses. The town began as a small inland settlement called Castle Creek, which was formed in 1923 when the Queensland government acquired land from larger properties in the district.

the town that water built. Perhaps the most unique feature of Theodore is its pub. Standing on The Boulevard, the town’s main drag, Theodore Hotel’s white weatherboard exterior oozes old-time charm. But this pub, like the rest of the town has an interesting story to tell – it’s the only pub in Queensland owned by an entire community.
Theodore is located on the Dawson River 105 kilometres south west of Biloela. Theodore is named to honour the former Queensland Premier, Mr E H Theodore. It’s palm-lined roads are quite spectacular and the town is an impressive look-alike to the street plan of Canberra.
Edward Granville Theodore (29 December 1884 – 9 February 1950) was an Australian politician who served as Premier of Queensland from 1919 to 1925, as leader of the state Labor Party. He later entered federal politics, serving as Treasurer in the Scullin Labor government .
