The station is located in Downtown Santa Monica, off-street in the block bounded by 4th and 5th Streets, Colorado Avenue, and the 10 Freeway. The site is located in the midst of Santa Monica's Civic Center, within a short walk of the Pacific Ocean, Santa Monica Pier, the Third Street Promenade, the Civic Auditorium, and Santa Monica High School.

Location. As its name implies, Wilshire/Vermont station is located at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. The station itself is slightly to the northeast of the intersection, allowing diverging B Line trains to head north underneath Vermont.
The Red Line expanded again on June 12, 1999, with a branch from Wilshire/Vermont to Hollywood/Vine stations. The final section of the Red Line opened on June 24, 2000, from Hollywood/Vine station to North Hollywood station, completing the Red Line as originally planned.
