A building boom in Doylestown during the 1870s and 1880s included this new courthouse, designed by Philadelphia architect Addison Hutton and constructed in 1871-72. It was razed in 1962. Hutton also designed the Doylestown Presbyterian Church (1871-72) and the Bucks County Jail (1885).
