Blackpool Tower is a tourist attraction in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, which was opened to the public on 14 May 1894. When it opened, Blackpool Tower was the tallest man made structure in the British Empire. Inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it is 518 feet (158 metres) tall and is the 125th-tallest freestanding tower in the world.

Jul 12, 2022 · 1. The idea for the Blackpool Tower was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The idea for the tower came from the mayor of Blackpool at the time, Sir John Bickerstaffe. He served as the Mayor of Blackpool from 1889 until 1891. He had visited the World Fair of 1889 in Paris, of which the Eiffel Tower was the centerpiece.
