May 20, 2021 · - Jean-Yves Thibaudet. I burned his 5CD complete piano works set from a friend years ago, and this is the Satie I was introduced for. Always loved it, never considered looking beyond until recently, after getting back into Satie following a hiatus from his music. - Pascal Rogé.

May 27, 2021 · I listened to a Jean-Yves Thibaudet performance. You don't even like the prelude? I am an absolute piano beginner. Not so long ago the only piano piece I knew was the Moonlight sonata. Maybe when I listen to more piano music, I will judge Ravel differently, but now Ravel and Debussy seem very accessible and enjoyable to me.

May 21, 2021 · 3315. I'd go for Blechacz to hear his sophisticated and intelligent playing of Mozart and Chopin, being pretty sure that Bach and Beethoven won't be bad either. I've never thought of Jean-Yves Thibaudet as outstanding pianistic personality, though it may be my lack of expourse. dgee liked this post. Jan-10-2014, 01:53 #3. dgee.

I was in music school, and something of a fish out of water. My background had not been in classical music when I entered music school to study theory and composition.

May 25, 2021 · Chopin & Debussy recordings. Artur Rubinstein's 11 CD set of Choping piano music is considered by many to be the benchmark. Most of it is in stereo, some in mono, but overall the sound is very good. Look here... For Debussy, Thibaudet is a good bet, though I am sure many other members would have good suggestions.

Jun 06, 2021 · I enjoy Jean-Yves Thibaudet's recordings of Ravel's Miroirs and Gaspard. His style of playing is precise and elegant. I feel that his restrained approach works well for Ravel's music. If you're interested in hearing a more romantic interpretation of Ravel, then you might prefer Martha Argerich.

Jun 06, 2021 · Ormandy is a great champion of T's music; very solid. As I remember reading in an Ormandy obituary: "He turned strings to silver and brass to gold." As a symphony, T's 6th is the stuff of legend, very personal and original with an irresistibly melodic first and second movement.

Mar 31, 2021 · This morning I'm just cooling out to the wonderful church music of Orlando Gibbons sung by the King's College of Cambridge. While I pretty much avoided anything pre-Baroque over my years of listening to classical music, Gibbons has been an exception. Along with Rachmaninoff's Vespers/All Night Vigil, Gibbons is my favorite choral music.
