Browns Island is the finish area for the Richmond Marathon. Even though I ran the marathon in 2000, it was a lot of fun to volunteer at Browns Island, this year. The Sports Backers had numerous tents set up all over Browns Island, at the finish, for the runners.

Brown's island also offers a unique venue for many of Richmond's most notable festivals, including Dominion Riverrock, the Richmond Folk Festival, and new this September comes Stone Brewing "Stone's Throw Down in RVA" . You don't need a festival to go and enjoy the island though, it's free to walk around and to enjoy, and dog friendly.

Love Belle Isle for a run, ride or hike. Great views of the City and River and aproxx. 5k hike if you do the loop and leave from Brown's Island side. Just take your trash home with you, an occasional item to pickup and leave it better than when we arrived.
