From Quilcene, drive south on Highway 101 for 11 miles to Brinnon, turning right at milepost 306 onto Dosewallips Road. Other good clamming beaches nearby include Quilcene Bay WDFW Tidelands (open year-round), and Duckabush (open November 1 through April 30). You can search for many more using the Find a Beach tool.
You can reserve campsites and cabins at Dosewallips State Park 9 months in advance, so be sure to book early if you want to snag your dates, especially in the summer months. To get to the trailhead, follow the Dosewallips Rd. Trail from the washout for 5.5 miles to the ranger station. If you choose to hike the entirety of this trail, you'll reach Hayden Pass. The pass usually melts out in early July. Lower sections are snow-free much of the year but often have snow in winter and spring.

Dosewallips. Get Directions to Park. Dosewallips State Park is a 425-acre, year-round camping park with 5,500 feet of saltwater shoreline on Hood Canal and 5,400 feet of freshwater shoreline on either side of the Dosewallips River.
The trails were uncrowded and if you want there are places nearby to visit in Quilcene for food and coffee. There is of course some road noise from Highway 101 which runs beside the park. Read more
