First Contact brought action horror to the Star Trek movie franchise and, shockingly, did it really well. Had the whole movie continued that tone instead of cutting in a comedic B plot the film would be so much better.
I’ve heard nothing but great things about first contact so I made this the first to watch. I actually found it a bit disappointing. The borg looked absolutely amazing as always. The tng cast are great.
TNG is not known for story arcs like the later TV series. I do suggest you finnish out the series before watching the TNG based movies though. If anything, TNG really starts to get into its prime around the 4th season. It's well worth continuing from this point if you made it this far.

Dec 11, 1996 · As a movie First Contact is most definitely the most 'popcorn' and most 'accessible' for general audiences unfamiliar with the TNG Star Trek universe/canon. The script writers, and probably Frakes who directed it, wasted no time with getting the movie moving at speed to the real meat of the story.
