Mar 10, 2014 · Visit St. Patrick’s. The main entrance of St. Patrick’s Cathedral is located on Fifth Avenue between 50 th and 51 st Streets. Subway: E or M to 5 th Ave/53 rd Street, #6 to 51 st Street, B, D, F or M to 47-50 th Sts-Rockefeller Center. Open daily 6:30am – 8:45pm. Access to the cathedral may be restricted during certain ceremonies or holidays.

Since 1879 St. Patrick's Cathedral had its original High Altar which served the Cathedral well. It wasn't until 1942 when the design and architecture of the original High Altar was brought into question that it was replaced with the magnificent High Altar and Baldachino we have today.
