  1. 1. Beethoven Moonlight Sonata Op. 27 No. 2. This list of the best piano sonatas would not be complete if I did not mention the “Moonlight” Sonata. This is perhaps one of Beethoven’s famous pieces ever written, although Fur Elise might have the slight edge.
