Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) is the medical school of Washington University in St. Louis, and located in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1891, the School of Medicine shares a campus with Barnes-Jewish Hospital , St. Louis Children's Hospital , and the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center .

The education of physicians at Washington University began in 1891. Under an ordinance enacted that year, a Medical Department was established which became the Washington University School of Medicine in 1918. This department was the successor to two pioneering institutions: St. Louis Medical College and Missouri Medical College.
The Department of Medicine was founded in 1948 with an original group of six stellar faculty members teaching and practicing at a single site. We are now the largest department at the University of Washington.
The Washington University School of Medicine was founded in 1891. In the 2021 U.S. News & World Report rankings of U.S. medical schools, it was ranked sixth for research and tied for 31st for primary care.
