Mathilde Krim was working as a biology researcher in Geneva when she met her first husband, a member of the Irgun. She converted to Judaism, and after earning her PhD in 1953, moved to Israel. There, Krim worked at the Weizmann Institute, contributing to pioneering research that laid the foundations for amniocentesis.
