  3. Mar 9, 2017 · We use 50/50 wipe it on with a lint free rag, wear rubber gloves. Let set for 5-10 minutes. Acetone in this mixture will not bother that old paint. I've done it on many cars. You mainly use it on the rust area's, it's really not needed on paint, but it will protect it too, it will also enhance old lettering.

  4. Jun 27, 2012 · My truck has some surface rust and patina. I read a lot about guys putting linseed oil on the rods to kind of give the darker wet look. So I decided to try it. I love the darker look but my truck came out shinier then expected. Anyone know how to tone down the sheen.

  5. Apr 16, 2014 · It has the 60 year old mother nature patina. I am on a budget so I can't get a pro paint job done. My plan is to go with the old patina look for now. As I was sanding down the rough rust spots and chips with some Scotchbrite pads and sand paper, I noticed that it was lightening up the dark rust spots and making it easier on the eyes.

  6. Jan 28, 2020 · Friend painted a firewall in a super low mile 55. Those cars are lacquer. The repaired area was primed in a matching factory red oxide then spotted in with lacquer. The gloss level was matched by how it was sanded/polished. The repair area was strategically chipped on purposed. This further helped deceive the repaired area.

Nov 28, 2006 · Linseed oil or wd40 in s spray bottle then chamoise off,or you can use fine scotchbrite (dont leave scratch marks)then spray the entire truck with 2k clear with a 50/50 mix of flattening base it will look real nice and hold the surface rust back from growing,tryit on something small first it will give a flat suede look to the original patina ...
