The Cork-Galway rematch took place in the All-Ireland of 1929. Little had changed in a year as Cork were on the top of their game again. A rout ensued as "the Rebels" claimed a third All-Ireland title from four final appearances with a 4–9 to 1–3 score line. For the first time in five years Cork failed to retain their Munster title in 1929.
