DOB is a 5-HT 2A, 5-HT 2B, and 5-HT 2C receptor agonist or partial agonist. Its psychedelic effects are mediated by its agonistic properties at the 5-HT 2A receptor. Due to its selectivity, DOB is often used in scientific research when studying the 5-HT 2 receptor subfamily.

A dob-dob is a member of a type of Tibetan Buddhist monk fraternity that existed in Gelug monasteries in Tibet such as Sera Monastery and are reported to still exist in Gelug monasteries today, although possibly in a somewhat altered form. The status of dob-dobs tended to be somewhat ambiguous and they were generally the less academic monks who had an interest in sports, fighting and other 'worldly' matters.
Dob-dobs sometimes acted as self-appointed policemen in the monasteries. Geshe Lama Konchog for example recalled being beaten by his dob-dob uncle in Sera for being over-eager to study and take Tantric initiations. Dob-dobs were often seen as potential trouble-makers with Sir Charles Bell describing in his portrait of the Thirteenth Dalai Lama how dob-dobs were foremost amongst monks at large religious ceremonies who were "bursting with superfluous energy, and spoiling for a fight".
Tashi Khedrup became a candidate to join the dob-dobs in Sera in 1951, when he was nearly 15 years old. He describes how the dob-dob fraternity worked for its members
In terms of running the monastery, the main task of the dob-dobs was to perform essential domestic labor for the upkeep of the building and the monks inhabiting it. Brian Harris recounts of a visit to the monastery in the 1990s and how "sixty dob-dobs would come to help and mix the porridge with a large wooden paddle" at Thikse Monastery, Ladakh, Northern India. Genge Lobsang Samdup recounted how at Ganden Monastery it was the dob-dob who played the thongchen, or long horns, and who also provide
The dob-dob appears to have a similar role to that of the lay brother in religious orders of Catholicism. Likewise, in Gelug monasteries, the 'bookmen' monks have a similar position within the monastery to the Catholic choir monks. Tashi Khendup wrote of the two factions

DOB or 4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxy-amphetamine is a molecule of the amphetamine class. Amphetamines are substituted phenethylamines containing a phenyl ring bound to an amino (NH2) group through an ethyl chain and a methyl group bound to the alpha carbon Rα. DOB contains methoxy functional groups OCH3 attached to carbons R2 and R5 as well as a bromine atom attached to carbon R4 of the phenyl ring. DOB is the amphetamine analogue of the phenethylamine 2C-B.
DOB's psychedelic effects are believed to come from its efficacy at the 5-HT2 receptor family as a partial agonist. DOB appears to be quite selective for the 5-HT2B receptor and is often used in scientific research when studying the 5-HT2receptor subfamily. It has been suggested that DOB is a prodrug metabolized in the lungs. However, the role of these interactions and how they result in the psychedelicexperience continues to remain elusive.
Disclaimer: The effects listed below are cited from the Subjective Effect Index (SEI), which relies on assorted anecdotal reports and the personal experiences of PsychonautWiki contributors. As a result, they should be taken with a healthy amount of skepticism. It is worth noting that these effects will not necessarily occur in a consistent or reliable manner, although higher doses (common+) are more likely to induce the full spectrum of reported effects. Likewise, adverse effects become much more likely on higher doses and may include serious injury or death.
The toxicity and long-term health effects of recreational DOB use do not seem to have been studied in any scientific context and the exact toxic dose is unknown. This is because DOB is a research chemicalwith very little history of human usage. Anecdotal reports from those who have tried DOB suggests that there are no negative health effects attributed to simply trying the substance by itself at low to moderate doses and using it very sparingly (but nothing can be completely guaranteed). Independent researchshould always be done to ensure that a combination of two or more substances is safe before consumption. It is strongly recommended that one use harm reduction practiceswhen using this substance.
Internationally, DOB is a Schedule I drug under the Convention on Psychotropic Substances. 1. Australia: DOB is listed as a Schedule II substance in Australia. 2. Austria: DOB is illegal to possess, produce and sell under the SMG (Suchtmittelgesetz Österreich). 3. Canada: DOB is listed as a Schedule 1 as it is an analogue of amphetamine. 4. Germany: DOB is controlled under Anlage I BtMG (Narcotics Act, Schedule I) as of September 1, 1984.It is illegal to manufacture, possess, import, export, buy, sell, procure or dispense it without a license. 5. Latvia: DOB is a Schedule I controlled substance. 6. New Zealand: DOB is Schedule I (Class A) in New Zealand. DOB would also qualify as an analogue under New Zealand's catch-all analogues section in Schedule 3 / Class C of their drug laws which would make 2C-I, 2C-E, DOI, DOB, ephedrine, and pseudoephedrineSchedule 3 compounds in the country. 7. Poland: DOB is controlled in Poland. 8. Switz...

A dob fogalmába sokféle, működési elvében, méretében, anyagában jelentősen különböző hangszer tartozik. Legjellemzőbben membranofon (kifeszített hártya rezgése által hangot adó) hangszerek tartoznak ide, de sok idiofon (szilárd test rezgése által hangot adó) hangszert is dobnak nevezünk.
