Feb 14, 2022 · PORTLAND, Maine — As far as 2021 goes, it was a banner year for Maine's lobster fishery. According to the Maine Department of Marine Resources, the state's lobster industry bounced back in 2021 and set a record $725 million for the total value of lobsters at the docks.
Highlights from the report include: The seafood sector contributed over $3.2 billion dollars in total economic output to the Maine economy in 2019. Retail seafood ($692 million), lobster harvesting ($511 million), and seafood processing ($343 million) were the largest industries contributing to total economic output.
