In August, he will step down as dean and return to teaching.
Richard Paul Saller (born October 18, 1952) is an American professor of European studies. He is the former provost of the University of Chicago and the former dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University, where he is currently the university's president.

Richard Saller, the Kleinheinz Family Professor of European Studies, succeeded Founding Director, Philip Pizzo, in September 2022. Richard was recruited to serve as interim president of Stanford University in September 2023. He will return to DCI as a faculty advisor when his term ends.
