Historical Timeline. On February 26, 1887, an act of the Alabama Legislature establishes State Normal School Troy as an institution to train teachers for Alabama's schools. Joseph Macon Dill is appointed as first president. 1887. The University grants teaching certificates to its first graduates: Kitty Corley, Celeste Darby and Emesa Locke.

The team currently plays their home games in Trojan Arena , which was built in 2012 and replaced the old arena known as Sartain Hall .
