     I am going to give you the specifications (PDF versions):

     HTML: http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/html40.pdf.gz

     CSS: http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/css2.pdf

     JavaScript: http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/files/ECMA-ST/ECMA-262.pdf

     If you want to be an advanced front-end developer, it is essencial that you become accustomed to these documents. They are all free and I recommend you to print them.

     Note: There are more recent specs available (HTML5 and CSS3), but those are still working drafts. The ones that I listed above are still the most important publications in this area - they shall serve you as a base.

     Also, note: These specs cannot be considered books, but they are nonetheless the best resources for HTML, CSS and JavaScript!

     I would follow Microsoft's Guidelines for Overloading Equals() and Operator ==.

     edit: Microsoft's guidelines contain this important remark, which seems to confirm Henk's answer:

     By default, the operator == tests for reference equality by determining if two references indicate the same object, so reference types do not need to implement operator == in order to gain this functionality. When a type is immutable, meaning the data contained in the instance cannot be changed, overloading operator == to compare value equality instead of reference equality can be useful because, as immutable objects, they can be considered the same as long as they have the same value. Overriding operator == in non-immutable types is not recommended

     This is a very broad question - possibly too broad to answer.

     However, two methodologies that can provide a solution with "loose coupling" are:

     Dependency Injection

     Dependency Injection (especially when using an Inversion of Control Container) provides loose coupling within an application or solution - With dependency injection you do not hard code your references to dependent objects, instead you code to interfaces and inject implementations of those interfaces.

     Here is a quick code example of a Logging component of an application, that implements an ILogger interface

     public class ConcreteLogger : ILogger{- public LogMessage(string message) { Log.Write(message); }}-

     One of your classes then receives this concrete implementation of the logger interface.

     public class MyClass{ private ILogger logger;- public myClass(ILogger logger) { this.logger = logger; }- public void DoSomething() { // Now if DoSomething needs to call logging it can call what ever ILogger was passed in this.logger.Log("We did something"); }}-

     Service Orientation

     Service Orientation provides loose coupling between different subsystems of a solution - With Service Orientation each part of a solution becomes its own stand alone services that publishes and interfaces (often a messaging based interface).

     This means that an application when needing for example to talk to the Shipping subsystem of a solution only needs to know about the systems interfaces and its address, and does not need to know anything about its internal implementation. This can almost be seen as a broader application of basic OO principles.

     Both of these provide two different types of loose coupling (that is one of the problems with your question, the term it self is loosely defined)

     Others have already provided great answers but I want to add one thought: polymorphism as implemented using inheritance does not promote loose-coupling. Inheritance is a very strong coupling between base classes and derived classes.

     Program with interfaces in mind. Build your libraries as small islands of self-contained code with minimal and explicit interfaces. Limit scope of all symbols, but in particular mutable ones (eg. variables). Don't give away implementation details, unless they are relevant.

     Keep in mind that C# strings are sequnces of Char, UTF-16 code units. They are not Unicode code-points. Some unicode code points require two Char's, and you should not split strings between these Chars.

     In addition, unicode code points may combine to form a single language 'character' -- for instance, a 'u' Char followed by umlat Char. So you can't split strings between arbitrary code points either.

     Basically, it's mess of issues, where any given issue may only in practice affect languages you don't know.

   K&R and King's A Modern Approach is what I would recommend. I learned C from those books. I would supplement that with any online resources you can find, from youtube to stack overflow to whatever makes sense, there's a lot more out there than there used to be.
