May 5, 2023 · First mentioned in 1196, a settlement here can be traced back to Celtic and Roman times. In fact, there is evidence that people have been here for hundreds and thousands of years thanks to the Heidelberg Man whose jaw bone was found nearby in 1907. This is the earliest evidence of humans in Europe.
