- Origin & Rise to Prominence. Amun is first mentioned in the Pyramid Texts (c. 2400-2300 BCE) as a local god of Thebes along with his consort Amaunet. At this time, the supreme god of Thebes was the war god Montu and the creator god was regarded as Atum (also known as Ra).
