     It means you're casting a long into an int. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_conversion

     You can't just say

     int delta = (time - lastFrame);-

     Because time and lastFrame are longs (I'm assuming lastFrame is, at least). Therefore you must convert the type (cast) the result of that subtraction into an integer value.

     When you cast with (int), you discard any fraction number after the floating point. For example:

     System.out.println((int) 15.5); // prints 15-

     That is cast to the primitive data type int. It will try casting the result produced by the calculation (which would be a long type in this case)into a primitive int (Integer) type.

     So, if you had a result of 16.253353 from that line (as an example), the cast would return just 16, since int doesn't deal with decimal places, only whole numbers.

     That line of code defines a pure virtual function in C++. It has nothing to do with the otherwise tricky Win32 API or GUI code in general.

     A pure virtual function is a virtual function that is used when the designer of the class wants to force derived classes to override the function and provide their own implementation.

     If a class contains any pure virtual functions, it is considered an "abstract" class and instances of that class cannot be instantiated.

     C++ uses the special syntax = 0; to indicate pure virtual functions instead of adding a new keyword to the language (as languages like C# do). You can think of it as setting the function pointer to 0.

     (By the way, the Windows header files <windows.h> simply define NULL as 0. So the programmer technically could have written = NULL, but it's much clearer to use the numeric constant 0 and reserve NULL for pointer values.)

     The basic idea is to do a simple (and reversible) transformation on your dataset set to make it easier to handle. You are subtracting a constant from each column and then dividing each column by a (different) constant. Those constants are column-specific.

     Correct. PCA requires data with a mean of zero. Usually this is enforced by subtracting the mean as a first step. If the mean has already been subtracted that step is not required. Formally, we might say that standardization is idempotent.

     What copyuvm does is that copy whole virtual memory (user + kernel) from a page directory. So during copyuvm we need setupkvm for kernel part.

     On the other hand, allocuvm just extends existing virtual memory ( specifically heap portion). Since there already exists kernel portion of mappings in allocuvm, we are not bound to call setupkvm.
