For example nausea, upset stomach, etc. I actually became lactose intolerant when on doxy for a long period of time (thankfully it reversed itself when i stopped taking the drug). So those side effects, plus drug resistance, i think is what they're trying to avoid with long term AB usage.

Feb 03, 2010 · As far as the long term effects, I'm not really concerned about antibiotic resistance because the dose is submicrobial. My fear is more with regard to possible liver damage, etc. They say that safety has been established up to 9 months, but there's a big difference between 9 months and a decade or two.

Jan 09, 2014 · One of the long term issues I ran into was that the long term doxy seemed to disrupt my overall system. I developed other infections (athlete's foot, yeast infections, etc) and ultimately I started losing my hair - eeeek!!!
