Dazaifu (太宰府市, Dazaifu-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. [1] As of 31 March 2024, the city had an estimated population of 71,505 in 33204 households, and a population density of 260 persons per km². [2] The total area of the city is 29.60 km 2 (11.43 sq mi).
The city of Dazaifu is one of Fukuoka Prefecture's best-known destinations. It was established as Kyushu's capital during the 7th century and flourished as a center of government and commerce with mainland Asia for hundreds of years.
