- Space Truckers is a happy surprise, considering how many SF films have renta-plots about nasty mega-corporations, malevolent robots and (yawn) hard-bitten, downtrodden pilots. In fact, this small-budget special effects fest does something few Alien clones manage - it uses its material well, and adds a soupçon of Pythonesque absurdity too.

Such a time is perfect for a film like 'Space Truckers'. This 1996 Brit-Am comic SF is low-budget by Hollywood standards (made for a laughable $25 M), and was a box office wreck (pulling only $1.6 M), but like a lot of junky but fun films survives in post-release traffic.
Space Truckers: Directed by Stuart Gordon. With Tim Loane, Ian Beattie, Olwen Fouéré, Shane Rimmer. A space trucker and his cute fiancee are on their way from a space station to Earth with an unknown cargo. When space pirates hijack them, 5000 disintegrator robots are found in the cargo.

Jul 20, 2020 · The plot could almost be a BLACK DOG type trucker action movie, but it happens to take place in space and it’s killer robots instead of stolen cocaine or whatever. And I like that it’s a futuristic sci-fi world with bright colored ships, billboards, diners, and normal citizens.

"Space Truckers" is a lean-back-and-munch-on-popcorn kind of movie. It is not a movie that you should take overly serious, though it does provide good entertainment. Visually then "Space Truckers" was actually rather interesting.
