    During a quiet evening in his quarters, Benjamin Sisko reveals to Kasidy Yates that he has recently purchased twelve hecapates of land on Bajor, in the Kendra Province. He plans to build a home there once the war is over, both to visit and for his retirement years. They reminisce about the past, marveling at how much has changed in Sisko's seven years on DS9. He tells Kasidy that his falling in love with Bajor was not in the master plan, but he surmises that he was always meant to come here....

To be fair, Deep Space Nine had already embraced serialised storytelling, whether in the seeding of gradually-building plotlines or its long-term character development.
