Jun 6, 2022 · The original band members included vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard, and bassist-vocalist Dusty Hill. After Hill's death, the band replaced him with Elwood Francis. Francis had already played for Hill, who was dealing with health issues, including hip and shoulder problems, when he died in his sleep at the age of 72.
Gibbons formed ZZ Top in late 1969 and released ZZ Top's First Album in early 1971. He has also maintained a solo career in recent years, starting with his first album Perfectamundo (2015). Gibbons has made appearances with other artists and acted on television shows, most notably in Bones .
