Feb 8, 2019 · Unfortunately, the film's scare scenes aren't even well-executed: an ostensibly creepy walk down a dark stairway appears to take a lifetime before it climaxes with the most obvious jump scare imaginable. "The Prodigy" wasn't made by incompetent filmmakers. But that doesn't make it any less wrong. Horror.

The Prodigy is a new horror film directed by Nicholas McCarthy, the director of The Pact, Home and Holidays. In the film, Sarah (Taylor Schilling) has just received her first child. Her son Miles (Jackson Robert Scott) seems to be a special child from a young age with a clever intelligence and a high pain threshold.
Our review: Parents say ( 6 ): Kids say ( 14 ): Clever direction and moody, effective cinematography can't quite rescue this horror movie from some confounding clichés. The Prodigy leads viewers to believe that it's going to rise above the genre when the adults figure out pretty early on that something very wrong is happening. But, nope.
