Apr 8, 2022 · Hollywood producer Joel Silver purchased the property in 1987. Silver had long been a fan of Wright’s architecture. He lives in the Storer House in Los Angeles, which was designed by Wright and built in 1923. Silver enlisted the help of Eric Lloyd Wright, grandson of the designer.
It was purchased in 1986 by film producer Joel Silver after Donna Butler, an FLW real estate appraiser, convinced him to restore it. Auldbrass Plantation is an extraordinary example of historic preservation and is open to the public one weekend every two years.
The unfinished project fell into disrepair until 1986, when Hollywood producer Joel Silver stepped in. A lifelong admirer of Wright’s work, Silver – known for blockbuster films like “Die Hard” and “The Matrix” – had already made Wright’s Storer House in Los Angeles his personal residence.
