Apr 15, 2023 · Lost in Space: 10 Best Episodes. Lost in Space, the popular television series that aired between 1965 and 1968, was intended as an outer-space adaption of Swiss Family Robinson. Set in the “distant” future of 1997, Irwin Allen’s show was unfairly viewed as an infantile version of Star Trek.
- Follow the Leader. Interestingly enough, the darkest Lost in Space episodes seem to earn the greatest amount of praise from fans and critics alike. Similar to “The Anti-Matter Man,” “Follow the Leader” required Williams to embody a more conflicted presence than what the role of Professor Robinson typically allowed.
- The Anti-Matter Man. After years of playing second fiddle to Will, Dr. Smith, and the Robot, Guy Williams was at last given the opportunity to employ his wonderful acting abilities in season three’s “The Anti-Matter Man.”
- The Keeper (Parts 1 & 2) The only two-part Lost in Space episode, “The Keeper” follows an intergalactic zookeeper (portrayed in a decidedly elegant and graceful manner by The Day the Earth Stood Still actor Michael Rennie) and his attempts to complement a vast collection of alien specimens with Will and Penny.
- The Reluctant Stowaway. Always one to initiate his series with a bang, Irwin Allen introduced the world to Lost in Space with the most exciting episode of all.
- Scarecrow (S2 E4) - 7.8. The Resolute tells Maureen and John that they have lost the alien engine to SAR. The Robinsons offer their own engine (currently on the Jupiter 2.)
- Shipwrecked (S2 E1) - 7.8. The first thing anyone notices about this show is the sheer grandeur of CGI. The premiere of Season 2 has the Robinsons marooned for over half a year on an entirely marine world (for the most part), so the family decides it's time to set sail: literally.
- Echoes (S2 E3) - 7.8. The Jupiter 2 finally finds a port in the form of the Resolute, but it seems abandoned for some reason. Dr. Smith plays more of her traitorous cards, splitting the family apart by strategically shutting different parts of the deck.
- Run (S2 E5) - 8.0. This episode lays most of its focus on Judy: depicting her drive and love for her family, but most of all, her sheer stamina. She is forced to run miles (across a terrain studded with complex landforms and haunted by Velociraptor-esque predators.)
- Severed. Season 2, Episode 6. The fast-spreading contaminant leaves Penny, Smith and friends stranded in tight quarters. Will and Maureen set out with Adler to find the Robot.
- Run. Season 2, Episode 5. John's predicament goes from bad to worse, sending Judy on a frantic race across the planet. Penny spies on Smith -- with help from an old friend.
- Trajectory. Season 1, Episode 9. Judy sets out to find Maureen, while Will and Penny lead an expedition to the caves. Dr. Smith pursues a new escape plan.
- Infestation. Season 1, Episode 3. Flashbacks reveal clues to Dr. Smith's past. The Robinsons contend with a new threat as the ship's fuel supply starts dropping - fast.
