Sallisaw is a city and county seat in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, United States. [3] As of the 2010 Census, it had a population of 8,880, an 11.2 percent increase over the figure of 7,891 recorded in 2000. [4] Sallisaw is part of the Fort Smith, Arkansas–Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Sallisaw, city, seat (1907) of Sequoyah county, eastern Oklahoma, U.S., just north of the Arkansas River and the Robert S. Kerr Reservoir, near the Arkansas state line.
Sallisaw, the County seat, is situated at the southern edge of the famed Cookson Hills. It is located on two trunk line railroads and served by Highways 59 and 64 as well as Interstate 40. Sallisaw derived its name from the French word "Salaisea," or salt provisions.

The county seat of Sequoyah County, Sallisaw is situated at the junction of State Highways 64 and 59 between Sallisaw Creek and Little Sallisaw Creek, at the southern edge of the Ozark Plateau twenty miles west of the Arkansas border.

Sallisaw. Sallisaw is in the Green Country region of Oklahoma and the county seat for Sequoyah County. A town that was designated as the Depression-scene setting at the beginning of The Grapes Of Wrath, an image Sallisaw isn't always terribly proud of.
