Aug 29, 2023 · It’s a mere 40 minutes by car to the Northern town of the lake’s namesake, “Starnberg” and about 50-55 minutes by car to the central portion of the lake. Because of this, Müncheners often flock to the lake in the summer months as an easy reprise to nature from the city life of Munich.
Located in southern Bavaria 25 kilometres (16 mi) southwest of Munich, Lake Starnberg is a popular recreation area for the city and, since 1976, one of the wetlands of international importance protected by the Ramsar Convention.
