Located along the Southern California coast in Orange County, 56 kilometers south of Los Angeles and 152 kilometers north of San Diego, Huntington Beach makes the perfect, beachy basecamp for major amusement parks like Disneyland or Knott’s Berry Farm.
- Go surfing. Obviously, for a place known as Surf City USA, surfing is one of the biggest draws for visitors to Huntington Beach. It’s renowned for its consistent waves and attracts surfers from across the globe.
- Hang out at the beach. Huntington City Beach is one of our favourite city beaches in California and epitomizes the California beach life vibes the state is famous for.
- Wander the Huntington Beach Pier. Make sure to have a wander along the iconic Huntington Beach Pier where you get great views of the surfers and beach.
- Explore the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this protected wetland habitat. Hike the trails, spot a variety of bird species, and enjoy the tranquillity.
- Ride a Bike Around Town. One of the more iconic things to do in Huntington Beach is rent a bike and join all the locals on the 10-mile bike trail that goes alongside the beach.
- Walk Around Downtown Huntington Beach. I always like walking around the area I’m staying in on the first day to acquaint myself with where I am and what’s nearby.
- Take a Surf Lesson. Known as “Surf City,” it’s no surprise that the most popular thing to do in Huntington Beach is surf. While we do have surfing in Washington, it’s very different (as in much colder), so I was excited to check it out in sunny California.
- Indulge in Handcrafted Chocolate. One of the tastiest things to do in Huntington Beach is visiting Bella Sophia Chocolates to try out their chocolate.
