Qu'Appelle is located in the transition zone between the Qu'Appelle River and the corresponding Qu'Appelle Valley and the Canadian Prairies. To the visitor, southern Saskatchewan Qu'Appelle Valley might, at first glance, appear to be a mirage.

This small city of 2,000 sits on a small bit of land between two lakes and is right in the middle of the recreation area for two provincial parks.
