El Dorado (locally / ɛ l d ʌ ˈ r eɪ d oʊ / el durr-AY-doh) is a city in, and the county seat of, Union County, on the southern border of Arkansas, United States. According to the 2020 census, the population of the city is 17,755.

El Dorado, city, seat (1843) of Union county, southern Arkansas, U.S., 100 miles (160 km) south of Little Rock. The site was selected in 1843 by county commissioners Robert Black, John Hampton, and Green Newton, who were instructed to locate centrally the county seat.
