    A monument on the Dún Laoghaire sea front which commemorates the ‘first stone of the eastern pier laid by his Excellency Earl Whitworth Lord Lieutenant of Ireland on 31 May 1817’, and the visit of King George IV in 1821. Departing from Ireland by the new venture, he designated it a ‘royal harbour’ and renamed Dunleary as ‘Kingstown’.
