Lincoln is an unincorporated village in Lincoln County, New Mexico, United States. Description. The Torreon, a rock fort tower where settlers hid during Indian raids. The community sits in the Bonito Valley between the Sacramento Mountains and the Capitan Mountains at an elevation of 5,696 feet.
This most widely visited state historic site in New Mexico is part of a community frozen in time—the 1870's and 1880's. Through a gift from the Hubbard Family Trust, the historic site now includes 17 structures and outbuildings, 7 of which are open year round and 2 more seasonally as museums.

This is a great place to stop and enjoy the history of the town. Billy the Kid and New Mexico history is here. The Lincoln County Wars and Billy's escape from the courthouse. It seemed a little rundown but with travel picking back up maybe that will make a difference.
