Odenton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States, located approximately 10–20 minutes from the state capital, Annapolis. The population was 37,132 at the 2010 census, up from 20,534 at the 2000 census.
Odenton’s origins can be traced back more than 170 years to the construction of railroads through a sparsely settled farming community. In 1840, the steam-powered Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad was constructed across in the area we now call Odenton.
Odenton Historic District. Throughout Odenton, there are many structures and landmarks with historical significance. Many of these locations are found in an area now designated by Anne Arundel County as an official Historic District. This district includes the main streets of Odenton.
