Coming Home is a novel by the American writer Lester Cohen (1901–1963) set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It tells the story of Joe and Stella. He is back from serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, and together with Stella and their baby, they battle against a steel tycoon, a ward heeler, and a corrupt police force in America's steel city.
Lester Cohen (August 17, 1901 – July 17, 1963) was an American novelist, screenwriter and author of non-fiction. He is best known as the author of the novels Sweepings and Coming Home , and the screen play for Of Human Bondage .
In a very secularized way, Lester Cohen writes about the power of honest people to save humanity from the cynicism, profiteering and exploitation that we sometimes think is impossible to defeat. And everything is going to be alright because the sun does rise on a young couple that love and work hard to make the world more just for more people.
