Is 'Lightning Strikes Twice' a terrible film? No actually, despite how the previous sentence sounded. It is however extremely flawed and sadly fails more than it succeeds and that is all being said with honest regret as a reviewer that always tries to be encouraging.

A rare attempt at film noir from an unexpected source, Lightning Strikes Twice (1951) is a not entirely successful, but nevertheless fascinating film that boasts deft directorial touches from the great King Vidor, and a compelling performance by the intense Mercedes McCambridge.

Popular reviews. It's a very curious film noir with this fish out of water on vacation no less in a dry locale of a dude ranch and is played by Ruth Roman (Shelley Carnes) who randomly gets sucked into these locals lives full of money, land and lust and succumbs to be involved.
