    • 1. (1749–1838), Italian poet and librettist; born Emmanuele Conegliano. He became poet to the Court Opera in Vienna in 1784 and wrote the libretti for Mozart's Marriage of Figaro (1786), Don Giovanni (1787), and Così fan tutte (1790).
