Double chess is a chess variant invented by Julian S. Grant Hayward in 1916. [1] [2] The game is played on a 16×12 chessboard with each player in control of two complete armies placed side by side.
The game is played by two players on a board of 16 by 12 squares. Each player has two sets of chess-pieces, i.e., two kings, two queens, four rooks, four bishops, four knights, and sixteen pawns.
Double Chess is played on an 8 x 16 board (i.e. two boards) with 2 sets of pieces. A third queen is substitured for the second King though. All rules remain the same as Standard Chess
