Season 1 of the American competitive television series BattleBots premiered on Comedy Central on August 23, 2000. Season 1 of BattleBots was hosted by Bil Dwyer and Sean Salisbury. Legendary boxing ring announcer and radio host Mark Beiro acted as the BattleBots arena announcer.
Season 1.0 was the first televised season of BattleBots, following on from the Long Beach and Las Vegas events held in 1999. It was the only season to have taken place at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, California, with the remainder of the original run being held on Treasure Island or in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Each match will consist of a single three– minute bout in which the goal is to completely destroy or disable the opponent. Comedy Central's first season premiered on August 23, 2000, and its fifth and last season ended on December 21, 2002. While small untelevised competitions continued to be run under the BattleBots name, the show was on hiatus until it was revived on ABC in 2015.
