Miller first got married to actress Belinda Stewart-Wilson. Stewart-Wilson is best known for her role as Polly McKenzie in The Inbetweeners. They had a son named Jackson who was born in 2006 and divorced later in 2011.
After his divorce, he remarried production executive Jessica Parker in September 2013. Parker is the daughter of musician Alan Parker. The pair had two children.
He was born in London to Michael Miller, an immigrant, and Marion Miller, who was from Wales. His father Michael was a lecturer in American literature at the City of Birmingham Polytechnic.
