The Bernardine Sisters of St. Francis are a Catholic apostolic congregation of pontifical right based in Reading, Pennsylvania. The order was founded in 1894 by Mother Veronica Grzedowska, a Polish nun from Zakliczyn, for the instruction of poor girls in a parish in Mount Carmel.
Many people know some of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters personally. They or their children were educated by our Sisters, some received care from us in our hospitals, some have relatives in the Congregation, and some have been partners with us in ministry over our long history.
