Edward Murray III (September 7, 1944 – November 23, 2020) Edward Murray III was Bill’s oldest sibling. He was born in 1944 and died in 2020 at 76 years old due to pulmonary fibrosis. Edward inspired the main character in the movie Caddyshack, published in 1980.
He has appeared with his younger brother, actor/comedian Bill Murray, in several films, including Caddyshack, Scrooged, Ghostbusters II, Groundhog Day, and The Razor's Edge. He co-starred on the TBS sitcom Sullivan & Son , where he played the foul-mouthed Hank Murphy.
Murray is a partner with his brothers in Murray Bros. Caddy Shack, a restaurant with two locations. In 2001, they opened a location at the World Golf Village near St. Augustine, Florida. The second location opened in 2018, inside the Crowne Plaza Rosemont Hotel near the O'Hare International Airport.
