I don't imagine this is connected to the song, but it is worth checking out the Wiki for the picture alone. Apparently the Dutch think black-face is hilarious!

  5. In his book of annotated lyrics, Box of Rain, Hunter has a note for this song. It says that he wrote "Black Peter" to be "brisk" like the 1961 Doug Kershaw song " Louisiana Man ," but Garcia slowed it down and made it more mournful.
