    Congo Squares

This recipe was passed down from my Grandmother, when my mother and her family lived in India in the 30's and 40's. If you like Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies you will love this recipe. They are simlar to a blonde brownie with chocolate chips, and nuts.
    Congo Squares
    Taste of Home
This recipe was given to me nearly 50 years ago, at a company picnic, and it's our family's favorite dessert. Now my grandchildren bake it for their families. When each of our three sons got serious about a girl, sure enough, I'd get a call from a young lady requesting "his favorite dish". I always gave the girls this recipe.
    Grandma Reilly's Congo Bars
    Food52
If my childhood had an official cookie, it would have to be my grandmother's Congo Bars. I'm not sure if my grandmother was the mastermind behind this recipe, but she definitely had a black belt in baking these gooey gifts to the world. They are like a fudgy brownie in texture, but the brown sugar makes them taste caramel-y. Even my half-siblings, who only had them a few times when visiting on weekends, still rave about these bars. They are best eaten out of a square-bottomed glass cookie jar, just like at Grandma Reilly's.
